Hastelloy Balls

Hastelloy Balls

Overview
This alloy finds use in petrochemical process equipment and gas turbines in the hot combustor zone sections. Also used for structural components in industrial furnace applications because of excellent oxidation resistance.

Hastelloy balls have and excellent resistance to corrosion. Hastelloy C-276 is a nickel-molybdenum-chromium wrought alloy that is generally considered a versatile corrosion-resistant alloy. Hastelloy precision balls have excellent resistance to localized corrosion and to both oxidizing and reducing media.

Hastelloy C-276 balls have an excellent resistance to a wide variety of chemical process environments, including strong oxidizers. Such as

  • ferric and cupric chlorides
  • hot contaminated media (organic and inorganic)
  • chlorine
  • formic and acetic acids
  • acetic anhydride
  • seawater and brine solutions

Hastelloy balls are used in flue gas desulfurization systems because of its excellent resistance to sulfur compounds and chloride ions encountered in most scrubbers. It also has an excellent resistance to pitting and to stress-corrosion cracking. It is also one of the few materials that withstands the corrosive effects of wet chlorine gas, hypochlorite and chlorine dioxide.

HASTELLOY ® X alloy is a nickel-chromium-iron-molybdenum alloy that possesses an exceptional combination of oxidation resistance and high-temperature strength. It has also been found to be exceptionally resistant to stress-corrosion cracking in petrochemical applications. X alloy exhibits good ductility after prolonged exposure at temperatures of 1200, 1400, 1600°F (650, 760 and 870°C) for 16,000 hours.
